Abstract

The 1873 diary of Lucinda Merriss Cornell focuses on her life and work at home with family and with friends and acquaintances. She is a homemaker, the mother of three – Blanche, Abbie “Eva Diazy” Geneva, and Otto Cornell – and pregnant with a daughter born in September. January 4: Lucinda reports experiencing an earthquake at midnight.
