Kate
First published in 2006 and named for the first female graduate of Otterbein, Kate Hanby, kate is a feminist and queer-friendly zine committed to interdisciplinary discourse and intersectional practice. In other words, kate welcomes work that explores and complicates not only our ideas about the study of feminism, gender, and sexuality, but also our ideas about the relationship between sex, gender, and sexuality and other forms of social identity (i.e. race, ability, and class).
The kate staff and contributors strive to build a zine–and an Otterbein community–that risks new ways of thinking and speaking about gender and sexuality, and, in this way, kate is both a transformative and transgressive project. The zine is open to submissions that take any form: critical or creative, mainstream or experimental, verbal or visual.
