This is the first tie of the 31-year series. With seconds left in the game Otterbein kicker Gary Fields tried a 32-yard field goal but was wide.

First night game at Otterbein created an overflow crowd of over 3,000 spectators. Four 90-foot cedar poles, with ten lights atop each, were installed at Memorial Stadium. The “O” Club financed the $9,000 project by selling five-year season tickets for $25.00. Of the 300 season tickets 270 were sold in the first two weeks of the project. First 59-seconds of film are pregame activities – float parade, homecoming court escorted across field, queen kissed by captains, flag raising ceremonies and crowd scene. Weather was cold, rainy and overcast.
First year Marietta coach, Ken Meade, was a 1949 Otterbein graduate and teammate of Otterbein coach “Moe” Agler. With win Otterbein remains undefeated, 5-0.
