These collections commemorate the creative life of Joanne Miller Stichweh '67 (1945-2019), a Professor Emeritus at Otterbein University. Joanne received her BA from Otterbein in 1967 and her MFA from The Ohio State University. Joanne taught studio art and art history courses for more than 30 years and had a significant impact on her students, even long after they graduated from her tutelage. She was named Otterbein Teacher of the Year in 1999 and received the 2002 Women’s Forum Bread and Roses Award for exemplary service in support of women. Her artwork was award-winning, exhibited locally and regionally, and is included in numerous public, private, and corporate collections. The Joanne Miller Stichweh '67 Gallery at 33 Collegeview Road was named in her honor.
The artwork in this gallery preserves a record of Joanne’s artwork. Joanne personally selected the exhibitions and individual pieces to be included in this collection only days before her death. The works date from 1992 - 2000 and focus on her paintings and collages.
