Abstract
The 1878 diary of Lucinda Merriss Cornell focuses on her life and work at home with family and with friends and acquaintances. She is a homemaker, the mother of five - Blanche, Abbie “Eva” Geneva, Otto, Honori “Ori” and Frank “Holly” Holland – and pregnant with a baby boy born in September. April 16: Charley Taylor died.
July 31: Lon Wybling married to a Mr. Judy.
September 9: Lucinda gave birth to a baby boy (Roy).
September 13: John Cornell’s Uncle Walter Bishop died.
October 18: Hears news that Tomy King committed suicide by cutting his own throat.
November 2: Blanche took her first music lesson with Professor Todd.
December 18: Blanche played her first piece in public at a musical concert by Prof. Todd.
